The main function of Bakelite powder is to facilitate mounting tiny, irregular-shaped and not-easily-handheld samples. Samples mounted with Bakelite powder must be heat-resistant materials that do not change in properties and shape after heating, such as metallographic samples, petrographic samples, etc. Bakelite powder becomes a flowing state at about 135°C, cures at about 160°C, and then becomes non-melting solid, and the sample is firmly fixed in the cured femur and becomes a dimensionally stable shape.
